Geneva, Switzerland - Basketball Travel DestinationGeneva
Geneva, from the beginning of time, has been noted as “the international city” who has maintained peace and neutrality for centuries. Today the small population of 450,000 is nearly half Swiss with the other half being comprised of different nationalities. This characterizes the Swiss culture as one of diversity and unity, but not uniformity. Geneva is home to many international organization headquarters; including The Red Cross, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations. Business and banking has been extremely profitable for the Swiss along with top notch watch and clock making. Visit the Horology Museum to learn more about the importance of watch/clock making. Also make a stop at the National History Museum to learn more about the lively events that have formed this country. Both are free of admission to the public. Geneva boasts the Jet d’eau (Water Fountain) that spouts water 150m into the air, making it the largest in the world. Stroll around Lake Geneva for an excellent view of the fountain and enjoy it’s many parks. There is said to be 2 trees per head in this small town nestled just below Mont Blanc in the Swiss Alps. Prepare for breath taking views and stimulating smells as Geneva is home to numerous rose gardens.
