The Place to Meet a Friend

Belgium boasts no big names, no big spenders, no big stadiums. But this intriguing nation is filled with many volunteers, running local clubs with all their heart and soul. They spend lifetimes building their clubhouses and stands with their own hands. Soccer holds a central position in Belgian life. Visiting a league match is like meeting friends. Winning is great, but losing is not the end of the world. No wonder so many teams from abroad enjoy visiting this friendly corner of Europe.

Brussels

Most Brussels-area matches are arranged in Limburg, an hour east of the Belgian capital near the Netherlands and Germany. Limburg is popular among visitors seeking a relaxed ambience and traditional lifestyle. One of the towns in this province is the home of KRC Genk, national champions in 1999 and 2002. Limburg holds a prominent position within the Premier International Tours program for another reason, too. Over the past decades, local clubs have developed a tradition of organized excellent international youth tournaments. Each spring they lure hundreds of teams, especially from England, Scotland, the Netherlands and Germany. Of course, their soccer friends from America are always welcome for a friendly match.
