THE BRAZILIAN SOCCER WAY

Brazil is known as "o país do futebol" ("the country of football") as thousands of Brazilians play professionally all over the world.

Brazilian football is known for its trickery, fast flowing, attacking style of play and considered a reflection of the country's multiracial society. Brazil's unique style is characterized by much creativity, swing and is infused with various rhythms and choreographies. The combination of those elements is called ginga.

Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. The federation offers excellent youth training programs where your team would be exposed to the ginga style of play. Train and play at Granja Comary – the CBF National Training Center, where players like Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and Pato prepare with the Brazilian National Team for important international tournaments including the World Cup.

SOCCER TRAVEL DESTINATIONS IN BRAZIL

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, on the South Atlantic coast, the city’s main attraction is its scenery. There is a stunning view at every turn, as steep, granite mountains rise dramatically above the Centro skyscrapers and curved golden beaches. And it is on these beaches that the energetic and leisurely lifestyle of the Cariocas (Rio's residents) is constantly on show. But the city is also brimming with a wealth of cultural attractions. Rio is divided into three zones: the Centro, Zona Norte (north) and Zona Sul (south). Maracanã Stadium is located in Zona Norte. Many of Rio's historic buildings, museums and galleries are located in and around the Centro. However, Rio's biggest attractions, including its beaches, are found in Zona Sul. Must see sights include Sugarloaf Mountain and the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Sugarloaf Mountain rises 396 metres (1,299 ft) above sea-level from the mouth of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean; its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined loaf sugar. Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ that is considered the largest art deco statue in the world standing at 39.6 metres (130 ft) tall. It is located at the peak of the 700 metres (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city.

Teresópolis - Granja Comary, CBF National Training Center

Teresópolis is located approximately one hour North of Rio de Janeiro and is known for its nature and a base for highland excursions. Teresópolis is the highest town in the State of Rio de Janeiro, nestling in the Serra dos Órgãos at an altitude of 910 meters (about 3,000 feet) and surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of mountains, rivers and waterfalls, all populated by rich fauna and flora. Located in Teresópolis is Dedo de Deus (God's Finger) rock, which resembles a left hand with its index finger stretched, pointing towards the sky. It is 1692 m (5551 ft) high and can be seen in the background of the of the Rio de Janeiro state, which appears in the center of the state flag.

Búzios

Búzios was originally settled by European pirates and slave traders, this happy mixture of many bloods prospered and became a picturesque fishing village, elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas in the world, famous for its unique combination of rustic charm, architectural harmony and incredible beauty. This picturesque beach town was forever changed when French film star Brigitte Bardot "discovered" the area with her Brazilian boyfriend. Buzios is often called the St. Tropez of Brazil since it has many trendy boutiques, fine restaurants, and expensive villas. Most of the Buzios residents love what Brigitte Bardot did for their village, and they built a statue in her honor.
