Touristic information
- Wolfsberger AC was founded in 1931. It has four different sections of which soccer, with ten youth teams, is most important. The club has 600 members. The first soccer team actually plays in the “Regional Liga”, the 3 rd amateur division, but has played in the first division for a long time. The club is well known for its care for the youth of which several teams have been Carinthian champions.
- Wolfsberg (30,000 inhabitants), the capital of the Lavanttal (= valley of the river Lavant), is situated between Graz and Klagenfurt, in the south of Austria. The Lavant is dividing the town in two parts. The origins of Wolfsberg date from the last years of the twelfth century. In the center you can find many historical buildings in gothic and renaissance style, especially at the "Hohe Platz" and the "Getreidenmarkt". The beautiful castle "Schloss Wolfsberg" (visits possible every day) has an interesting Mausoleum. Apart from the historical meaning, Wolfsberg is also a nice tourist center with attractive taverns, shops and terraces.
- Swimming center near the stadium in Wolfsberg. Very nice relaxing facility with different pools, surrounded by grass fields. Reduced entrance fee for Alpen Cup participants: approx. Euro 1.50 per day.
- Miniature golf. Situated next to the stadium of Wolfsberg. Special reduced prices for tournament participants (amount to follow). Also open at night.
- Indoor Go-Kart. About 1 km from stadium. Reduced prices for tournament participants (amount to follow).
- Koralpe. Splendid mountain area at about 20 minutes (9 km) by car/coach. Excellent wandering possibilities at 2200 meter above sea level. Beautiful sights on the whole area.
- Wörthersee (50 minutes, 60 km). The Wörthersee is also called the "Austrian Riviera" It is the largest lake of Carinthia and has still clean water! The climate is such that there are many bathing resorts of which the most important are Velden (mundane; nice lake‑promenade), Pörtschach (situated on a peninsula; Flower promenade) and Maria Wörth (on a peninsula as well; many historical buildings). Moreover visit of Minimundus (the small town on the lake).
- Graz (75 km, about 1 hour). Monuments and parks adorn the second largest city of Austria. The pleasant town, dominated by the Schlossberg (Castle Hill), offers many attractions, especially in the old center. The world's largest collection of old weaponry can be admired in the Zeughaus, the city's 17th century armoury. But apart from the museums there are picturesque shopping streets and plenty of bars and restaurants.
- Visit Velden on the Wörthersee to one of Europe's most beautiful casinos. Free entrance and free welcome drink if booked via Alpen Cup. Price including bus in case of at least 25 persons: ATS 250 per person ( 7.30pm-1.00am). Only for adults.
- Mountain Bike tours. Special reduced amounts for hiring a mountain bike. Beautiful possibilities for mountain biking in the nature in the valley of the river Lavant.
- Rodeln in Klippitz. “Rodeln” is to discover the mountains in a speedy way. This sliding track is approx. 1800 meters long and gives you an exciting feeling while flashing down the mountain like a racer. First you will be carried to the top in a lift. Fees: children € 5,- and € 7,- for adults. Opening hours: until dark.
