Come and meet the rest of the world at the Dana Cup 2011. More than 100 nations over the years have sent teams to the Dana Cup. They come to play soccer but also because of the fantastic international atmosphere. Dana Cup is a sporting challenge together with a culture experience where young players regardless of borders, skin color, politics and religion can meet in a safe environment. Each year we are proud to welcome the rest of the world to Hjørring.  We look forward to seeing you and your team at the Dana Cup 2011.

40-50 grass fields.

Remarks

  • Total number of teams is approx. 832. from 45 different countries

  • 16 players per team per match, with unlimited substitution.

  • Age limits must be adhered to. However any one player who meets the age requirements may play in two Classes. In the 7‑a‑side Classes (G, H and U) any number of players may be used. Players must be able to show valid identification.

  • Further information can be found in the Dana Cup brochure for 2011.

Age dispensation

In any one game, at any one time, you can use 3 players born between August 1 st to December 31 st the year before. You do not need a dispensation for this. Any other dispensations must be applied for before the tournament. During the tournament there will be no dispensations granted.

Tournament rules

The Dana Cup is played according to the rules set by FIFA and the Danish Football Association (D.B.U.).

Tournament format

First round: group matches.

Second round: teams placed 1st and 2nd in their group in the first round will play second round "A". The remaining teams will play in second round "B". All second round matches are played on a knock‑out basis. Matches will take place daily from 07.30 a.m. to 09.30 p.m.

General information

  • Beaches: many miles of excellent sandy beaches on the North Sea coast near Hirtshals, approx. 15 kms from Hjørring.

  • Nordsømuseum: situated in Hirtshals. This center also has Europe's largest sea‑aquarium. Furthermore there is a sea‑lion basin and a Maritime‑, a fishing‑ and a sea‑biological museum.

  • Frederikshavn: (36,000 inhabitants). One of Denmark's most important ferry‑ports and marine base. There are various museums and from here Gothenburg/Sweden can be reached for a day‑trip using one of the most modern ferry‑vessels in the world. Cruising at approx. 70 kms per hours the journey can be covered in about 2 hrs.
