Sports Facilities The Marne Trophy is the second biggest Euro-Sportring tournament in France. It is held in two locations near Paris. The main location is Vaires sur Marne, about 20 miles east of Paris. The games are spread out over six different fields, and additionally the soccer players can count on a club house with dressing rooms, a snack counter and a tent. The second location is in Lagny sur Marne, about 4 miles from Vaires sur Marne. This location comprises of four grass fields, including the main field with stands, as well as a restaurant, snack counter and dressing rooms. Remark Prizes Number 1 to 4 per category, a cup per team Fair Play Cup per category Participating countries Program Very few tournaments manage to attract participants from so many different countries as the Marne Trophy – what with a worldwide favorite as Paris around the corner. The tournament starts on Friday evening with the check-in at the Vaires sur Marne sports complex and the team leader’s reception, whilst the participants are entertained at the opening party. On Saturday and Sunday, all participants play at least five games. Saturday is for the qualifier games. The last whistle is blown quite early in the day, in order to allow the participants enough time to spend the rest of the day in Paris. However, make sure you are back in time on Sunday for the last qualifier games, the ranking games and the finals. The tournament is concluded with a visit to Disney Village, the only part of Euro-Disney with free access.
General Information · US Vaires: well structured club with over 500 members. Organising international events since many years and strongly supported by the local authorities. · Paris (20 kilometres). Sparkling capital of France. Paris counts a great many attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre palace museum, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Latin Quarter ‑ the pleasant quarter with all kinds of restaurants and taverns. · City tour (Saturday afternoon/evening). Suggested itinerary: Marne valley - Place de la Bastille, where the famous prison was torn down at the beginning of the revolution in 1789 - Hôtel de Ville (town hall), through the Rue de Rivoli - the Louvre museum (palace) which contains all the artistic French treasures. Visitors would need more than several years in case every piece of art would be contemplated for 1 minute - Place de la Concorde, the magnificent square commemorating the French jet-set and royal persons being decapitated during the revolution - Avenue des Champs Elysées with its impressive panorama - Arc de Triomphe, superb monument illustrating Napoleon’s victories - the Trocadero palace with a great view over the Eiffel tower, where a cruise on the Seine can be organized if required (entry fee: € 5,- per person). Finally, if time is on your side, a visit to the Notre Dame cathedral and a last climb to the Sacré-Coeur, where you find a beautiful view over the city, in the Montmartre area (restaurants, entertainment) will achieve the tour. · Disneyland. The magical world of Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Peter Pan and many others, some 15 kilometres east of the tournament locations. Euro‑Disney is the largest amusement park of Europe and offers ‑ divided over five "lands" ‑ countless attractions and shows. · Disney Village. For those visitors who cannot visit Disneyland for a full day, it is nevertheless worth while to have a look, to catch the spirit of the park. There is a "free" area with restaurants, among which you will find the famous restaurant "Hollywood Planet" known all over the world, shops and a nice square illuminated with thousands of lights along the pond and ice‑skating track "Village Disney". Note: due to the restriction regarding the working time of the driver, most teams cannot use the touring car on Friday evening, however there is an excellent connection by train from the Marne valley. · Parc Asterix (25 miles from Vaires). Parc Asterix is an amusement park that is based on the famous ‘Asterix and Obelix’ comics of the duo Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. The amusement park was opened in 1989 and is now one of the most popular amusement parks in France. There are no less than six roller coasters in the park, including a spectacular wooden roller coaster, "Tonerre de Zeus". Or try the "Menhir Express", an exciting water attraction! Opening hours: Mon-Fr.: 10.00 – 18.00, Sat.-Sun.: 09.30 – 19.00. Entrance-prices: children 3-11: € 23,00 p.p., people older than 11 years: € 33,00 p.p. · Vaires sur Marne. Vaires sur Marne (12,000 inhabitants) is a small and quiet place about 12 miles from Paris. It lies on the east side of Paris along the A4 motorway to Disneyland Paris. In the surroundings of Vaires, the "Bois de Vaires" nature area or the banks of the Marne are a nice place to stay. The Olympic swimming pool was recently built in Vaires in old sand and gravel diggings for the candidature of Paris for the Olympic games of 2012. |
