Few sports events start as imposing as the international tournament Città della Pace. The municipal organizing committee of Rovereto succeeds every year in presenting another spectacular and striking tournament. It already begins with the impressive opening ceremony. Before the enormous Peace Bell tolls one hundred times, the participants take the oath of fair play and the national anthems of all participating countries are being played. One of the largest discos in the city is in town on Saturday evening to mark this tournament. The finals are played in the local stadium ‘Della Quercia’, for which the stands are completely full up.

Program
Many events during the tournament are open for all participants like the opening and closing ceremony and team leader’s reception. In this team leader’s reception, in the town hall of Rovereto clubs get the latest news on the tournament and will get the chance to know their opponents and other clubs, as well as the organizing committee. In the meantime the participants can take a dive into the public swimming pool or explore the town of Rovereto. On Saturday morning the first part of the opening takes place up in the mountains of Rovereto, where all teams get together around the enormous ‘peace bell’ for the formal opening of the tournament. After this all the buses make their way back down to town, where the parade will take place in the center of Rovereto. At noon the competition will start at 10 locations in and around the town. Saturday evening there is a disco which is organized especially for all participants of Euro-Sportring, in a discotheque nearby Rovereto. A special free shuttle takes groups from Rovereto to the discotheque and back. The next days the preliminaries will continue, followed by the intermediaries and classification games. The finals are the real climax with a pleasant ambience because of the many spectators and the 'maccheronata' (macaroni for free). After the prize-giving ceremony a big fireworks display will be the spectacular conclusion of the Torneo Città della Pace.

Touristic Information
-
Rovereto (37,000 inhabitants), the second town of the Trentino region, is situated at only 12 miles east from the Lake Garda and about 25 km south of the regional capital Trento. The town has many historical monuments, such as the Castle (now war museum), the town hall on the border of the torrent Leno, the walls and the San Marco church. The center of the town is situated around the nice Piazza Rosmini with its renaissance palace and consists of many small, old lanes, which give a "Venetian" impression. Here you also will find the pleasant store windows, the taverns and pizzerias.
-
Riva (15.000 inhabitants, approx. 14 miles ) is a picturesque, jolly bathing resort, the pearl of the Lake Garda, situated at the most northern part of the lake, between the Rochetta mountain on the western side and the Brione hill in the eastern part. The old town, dominated by the Rochetta, has beautiful medieval buildings with the Torre Apponale and the Palazzo Pretorio, the Rocca Castle and some old gates. The newer part with the most hotels is in the north, direction Arco and on the way along the lake, direction Torbole.
-
Torbole (3.000 inhabitants, approx. 18 kilometres) is situated in the northern part of the Lake Garda on the banks of the small river Sarca. It is originally a fishing village that the famous German writer Goethe liked very much. It developed into a favourite touristic area, because of its pleasant picturesque position on the lake, its ideal water sports facilities and its many taverns/restaurants.
