Concordia University returned earlier this month from a tour to Italy. Coaches Tom Saleska and @Ryan Middendorf took both the Concordia University (WI) Mens Soccer team and the Concordia university (wi) women's soccer to Rome, Florence, Pisa and Sienna. Tour sightseeing part of the tour included a sightseeing tour Rome, a tour of the Colosseum and the Vatican. After the Rome stay the group continued to Montecatini Terme, close to Florence. Here the group did some sightseeing of Florence including visits to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and of course Piazza Michelangelo.
They visited as well the historic cities of Siena and Pisa, famous because of its Leaning Tower. The soccer portion of the tour included games vs. some local teams and a visit to the Italian National Coaching & Training Centre called Corveciano Fondazione. Of course a Serie A game visit was part of the program as well - Lazio Roma versus Torino. In addition to this the group got to sample plenty of different of Italian Cuisine.
Coach Tom Saleska gave us the following testimonial: “The soccer trip, organized and executed by Premier International Tours to Rome and Florence, was outstanding from the beginning planning stages to the actual spring break tour. I’ve traveled to many places in Europe, including Barcelona Spain, Munich German, and Amsterdam Holland, but none compare to Rome and Florence Italy. The places we visited such as St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa at times were overwhelming. The team thoroughly enjoyed the combination of watching professional soccer, playing matches against local clubs and touring some of the most incredible historical venues known to man. If you have a bucket list, I would recommend putting Rome and Florence Italy at the top right away. You won’t be disappointed if you travel with Premier International Tours and you get Djordje Cosic as your guide.”
