The men’s and women’s soccer teams from DePauw University went on a very special tour to England

The men’s and women’s soccer teams from DePauw University, located in Greencastle, Indiana, made a very special tour to England, January 8-23, 2020, with Premier International Tours. Both teams toured together to Northern England including stops in York, Liverpool and Manchester, all home to some of the most avid soccer fans and teams in the world. This tour was unique because they were able to combine some of the sightseeing with lectures and make an academic component of the tour which so the students were able to get academic credit from the school. Of course soccer was the backbone of the tour, and both teams played 3 matches against local school and club teams while in Liverpool and Manchester. They also toured Old Trafford and Anfield stadiums and saw the men’s EPL match Burnley FC vs. Leicester City and the women’s pro match of FC Sheffield United Women vs. Aston Villa.

Sightseeing highlights included York Minster (Cathedral), York Dungeon, the Museum of Liverpool including the Kicking and Screaming Football Show (film), The Beatles Story, the Cavern Club and the Tate Gallery on Albert Dock and the National Football Museum in Manchester. The tour also included two lectures from journalists, including a lecture from Football journalist, Wayne S. Barton, author of many Manchester United books.
